Hastelloy X (the alloy covered by AMS 5536) is approved under NACE MR0175 / MR0103 and ISO 15156 / ISO 17945 for use in sour-service environments containing H₂S. For sour-service orders, indicate the requirement on the RFQ so full compliance documentation can be provided.

What is the difference between AMS 5536 (sheet/plate) and AMS 5754 (bar/billet)?

AMS 5536 covers flat-rolled sheet, coil, and plate forms of Hastelloy X. AMS 5754 covers the wrought bar and billet forms of the same alloy. Same chemistry, same heat treatment, different product forms and minimum mechanical property tables. Engineering review is required before substituting one for the other.
